The Harris Middle School football team shut out Franklin County North 16-0 in Winchester at North's annual jamboree. This was the second year in a row the Eagles beat the Gators in the event.

Harris attacked early in the game. Dallas Castleman ran 33 yards for a touchdown to put the Eagles up with 6:40 left to play in the first half. Quarterback Brayden Ward threw to Malik Trollinger for the two point conversion giving the Eagles a 8-0 going into the halftime break.

Quarterback Brayden Ward found Trey Trice in the end zone for a 5 yard touchdown with 14:00 to go in the second half. Ward threw to Zeke Mason for the two point conversion putting Harris up 16-0.

Coach Jim Doughtry was pleased with his team's group effort. "I loved our gang tackling tonight on defense. A lot of kids made plays," said Doughtry. "On offense, our quarterbacks and center played well, and we had four different guys who scored," he added.

From the quarterback position, Ward was 2 of 7 for 21 total yards, one touchdown,an interception, and two 2-point conversions. Zeke Mason was 0 of 1 for 0 yards and one interception.

In the air, Harris was 2 of 8 for 21 yards. Tyler Eddigs had one reception for 16 yards while Trey Trice had a 5 yard reception for a touchdown.

Harris rushed the ball 16 times for 117 total yards. Dallas Castleman led all rushers with 88 yards on 8 carries and a touchdown. Tyler Eddings rushed 9 yards on 5 carries while teammate Malik Trollinger carried once for 5 yards. Treyvon Smith rushed twice for 5 yards.

"Our line is key to this team," said Doughtry. "The line did a great job tonight and have a great attitude. I told them that if they hustle to the ball, good things will happen."

Harris will open the season Tuesday, August 18 against Central Tennessee Conference opponent Tullahoma.
